Sometimes things do change for the better…. Alibris revisited

Published by Nicole under books,deals,money

So I’m in grad school. Have I written about that? Somehow it’s not as easy to talk about as undergrad, not as fully realized a purpose in my life. Perhaps I’ll write another post about it soon.

ANYway, I had to buy books for this semester. So after comparison shopping on www.addall.com and consulting the cashback prospects at www.fatwallet.com, I decided to shop www.alibris.com for the books. This would be my first time shopping Alibris in nearly five years, since a bad experience left me waiting all summer for an older book which arrived in not the greatest condition.

This time, though, I had shipping confirmations from each seller, quick turn times, and decent books. All in all, not unlike the results from half.com or Amazon, with shipping more comparable to the latter (second party sellers’ shipping, not that lovely free super saver shipping).

Some things never change…

Bank of America continues to be evil

Published by Nicole under money

So, per the advice of many a personal finance blog, I called BoA to request a rate reduction on my credit card. They transferred me to a rep who tried to sell me on their line of credit scam. When I explained what I wanted, the girl (who was, to their credit, American) told me the line of credit was all they would offer me. Grrr.

It's been a long, long time

Published by Nicole under news,places

Well, not that long!

I was in Michigan for the break. Good to be home.

I drove the 800 miles, all by my lonesome. Had plenty of Tim Hortons along the way. Dropped in at Moes in my old neighborhood for a lovely Art Vandelay. Went to a former coworker‘s retirement party. Took my car in to the most awesome dealership in the world. Hung out with friends and family. It was a good time.
