But instead I was looking at the journals of people who have some of my rarer interests. Came across this gem in a year-end type of survey thing:
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I have an adversion for some Kelly girl who hatees me for no reason. I don’t hate her but she wears too much eyeliner and carries a stupid zodiac purse.
That struck me as really funny for some reason. I mean, sitting-here-alone-in-my-apartment-cackling kind of funny.
Speaking of which, someone else was doing a little game:
Check out my user info, choose one of my most unusual interests, post it here and I’ll explain why it’s listed. If you really want to know :P

You are Tommy! You’re sexy and cool, and you might
have that “hunted wolf” look, or that
“forgotten hero” look, or any other
host of tragic-yet-sexy feels to you.
Twelve-year-olds dig your bod.
Which Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
Take the quiz: “Which Mighty Morphin Power Ranger are you?”

Pink Ranger
You are the Pink Ranger, you are Kimberly. Your weapon is the power bow, and you are the Pterodactyl and the Firebird.

Specifically, “Green.”
Anyway.
I’m tired. I feel like an idiot for ever even trying. But hey, I guess I was green, huh?
“My salad days, when I was green in judgment, cold in blood, to say as I said then.”
That’s Antony and Cleopatra, if you didn’t know. Which, as I’ve said before, is ten times the love story that Romeo and Juliet is, but there’s no arguing over taste. I guess it’s okay to be juvenile–green–when it comes to love.
Or maybe not. Whatever.
I pay a lot of money to be this stupid. Of course, there’s less than 11 months left now. I guess I can make it.
As Mr. Lloyd says, “you know it’s the truth when you find that you can’t talk.”

Glad I did.
We refer to the science of remembering as mnemonics. One place in the bible where this word is also used is at John 5:28, 29 “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” The original Greek word is mnemei´on, is derived from the verb meaning “to remember” or “to memorialize.” Some Bible translations may render this Greek word by the one word “tomb” in English, but the word “tomb” does not fully express the meaning of the original Greek word because “tomb” in the Greek is derived from the verb that means “to cut, to hew, or to dig.” But the Greek word mnemei´on includes the thought of being remembered or of remembrance. Jesus did not use the plural of the Greek word ta´phos, which means “grave” or “burial ground.” The thought here is that everyone who is in the memory of God will live again.

Everything is going wrong. It should overwhelm me, but it’s not. Some of it’s my fault, some of it’s not, some of it I don’t understand. Some of it… I wish I didn’t.
That’s why this journal is named after Evangeline. Faith and serenity can exist where fear and duress rightly belong.
“Why are you in despair, O my soul, And why are you boisterous within me? Wait for God, For I shall yet laud him as the grand salvation of my person and as my God.” — Ps 42:11.

So I am seriously bummed about not having the convention at the Silverdome this year. I love the size of our conventions there–nothing like hearing 35,000 voices raised in unison. This year is the 10th anniversary of my baptism there. The sisters got to change in the Lions’ locker room. I wanted to hang my stuff in Barry Sanders’ cubby, but someone else beat me to it.
Pontiac was also the site of the first NFL game I saw. So long ago that I even rooted for the Honolulu Blue.
Why couldn’t they have spent the money they used on Ford Field to build a decent team instead? I’d much rather have a good team playing in the Dome than that lovely 6-10 record downtown.
Speaking of the NFL, superbowl.com is doing the playoff challenge again this year. I am, as always, playing it pretty safe. Not a bad idea in fantasy football, but in life, sometimes you should take a risk. I have been trying to bring myself to for over a year now. And I appreciate the nudging from Ms. Martin in this regard… I’m working on it…
Anyway, here’s my first published poem, which was in fact inspired by the Silverdome. And also by my fear of taking risks. Continue Reading »
