Just wrote a long, confessional type entry, and then got an error message when I tried to post. Perhaps the Internet isn’t ready for those kinds of reflections.

I had to steal this:

For some reason I’ve been really homesick lately, yet the last few times I’ve gone home… well, it hasn’t been anything to look forward to doing again.

And after driving through Birmingham and West Bloomfield this morning, Midland just looked really small, crappy, and sad in comparison. Have I become an Ann Arbor snob? I would throw myself off the roof of Von Maur if that was the case, latte in hand.

In related ramblings, it also seems really vulgar that the biggest strain on me with regard to my father’s illness will be a financial one. Perhaps I’ve spent too much time with former communists, but money is just a hassle and we’d be emotionally better off with an economy based on doing each other’s laundry or bartering goat cheese.

So with the above in mind, I hereby renounce all worldly possessions and will forthwith reside in a hut, location of which shall not be disclosed due to governmental persecution.
