I began the day in Midland, went shopping, drove down to A2, ran around, got much poorer, went back to Midland, and here’s what I decided:
I love:
How when I go into Kohl’s to shop they call me into the back to fix the computer. I may not give much to this world, but I do finesse StoreNet.
Meijer. I can’t believe most states of the union and all other countries of the world do without a place where you can buy pomegranates, adult diapers, Konica film, a dining room set, a pleather skirt, and cafeteria food at 3 am.
How I know when and where police patrol Midland county, so that laws, speed limits, traffic signals and signs all become merely “suggestions.”
How the Subway at Eastman and Saginaw has RED onions, not WHITE. Don’t ask me how but it’s a whole new Subway, pry that Jarod dude off the floor.
Dorky Midland People. You know I’ve got a story, right? Continue Reading »

Thought I might get a rocket ride
When I was a child
But it was a lie
That I told myself when I needed something good
At 17 had a better dream
Now I’m 33 and it isn’t me
But I’d think of something better if I could
All my friends and lovers
Will leave me behind
And I’m still looking for a girl
One way or another
I’m just hoping to find a way
To put my feet out in the world
Caught some grief from a falling leaf
As she tumbled into the dirty ground
And said I should have put her back there if I could
Well everyone needs a better day
And I’m tryin’ to find me a better way
To get through the things I do and the things I should
All my friends and lovers
Will leave me alone
To try to have a little fun
One way or another
I just wish I had known
To go out walking in the sun
To find out if you were the one
does it make you wanna come a little closer now?
and did you want to dance with me?
Did you wanna hum a little harder now?
can you see her?
waiting there
can you see her?
because I’m almost there
can you see her
waiting there for someone like me
Well all you want is a beauty queen
But not a superstar
But everybody’s dream machine
All you want is a place to lay your head
You go to sleep dreamin’ how you would
Be a different kind if you thought you could
But you come awake the way you are instead
All my friends and lovers
They shine like the sun
Well I just turn and walk away
One way or another
I’m not comin’ undone
I’m just waiting for the day
I don’t know if the song is apropos of anything, but it’s in my head and I like the lyrics.
I’m lurking online hoping to catch Ben, and now Jason is IM-ing me. I’d forgotten how much I hate talking to him. He’s self-published a book of his crappy poems and is nagging at me to buy it. He’s also nagging me as to why my novel still isn’t ready yet. “When is your book coming out?” К чёрту, Jason. At least I don’t pay people to get my work published. Oh good, he’s saying goodbye.
Я скучаю по Бэну. See, I’m studying.
I got soaked to the skin yesterday. Everything in my bag got wet. I just superglued my license plate tab on because it’s no longer sticky. I’d had the envelope from the Secretary of State in there for 2 weeks. Hopefully I don’t get pulled over before next August because the paper registration kind of resembles a used kleenex.
It was great, though. I love getting rained on. All I needed was a tall blond guy in a tan (not black) trenchcoat and a wet orange cat, and some people singing Moon River, and it would have been perfect for Missa Gorightry.
Man, 5:30. I guess that’s enough online stalking for today.
